Nigerian pay lower (on receiving end)
We've got several complaints from Nigerian operators that the amount received is way lower than before.
The bank we used before was a private account, it has low costs. For multiple reasons this bank can no longer be used and also Payoneer announced that people can no longer receive money coming from private parties, only from business parties.
So the payments are now done by another party, using a business account. First of all this brings higher costs (business banking is more expensive than private banking). Second this is another bank than we used before and that bank has higher costs to begin with, all banks are different and that private bank we used happens to be one of the cheapest in the business). The third difference the exchange rates used between banks and those can differ as well. Number 4 might be the intermadiary bank involved for Nigeria which may have higher costs (because all the complaints we receive are from Nigeria so far). And of course number 5 would be fluctuations in the international exchange rates to begin with, especially in Nigeria where 1 euro can be 460 Naira today and 420 Naira the next.
Payments are done in Euro, so literally all the costs disappear in the process. Meaning, if you made 80 euro, then 80 euro is what is been transferred and 80 euro is what has been debited from 'our' bank account. All the rest that happens is really between banks and caused by banks. There is nothing we can do about it.
New note: so far this seems to be only with people using First Bank (not verified yet, this was mentioned by one of our recruiters). UBA is mentioned now as well. But so far only Nigerian banks still.
New note: all this may just have to do with recent international (bank) changes. This very same problem occurs for another country (Suriname). That is from a Dutch chat (not related to this company), a country on another continent (South America) and the payments are done by another bank as well.

Can we just receive payments in Bitcoins instead? I was disappointed with the amount I received. It's way below the amount I expected. Can we worry about bitcoin transfer charges instead, please? The local banks are making our job look like a high waste of time. Please consider this payment option. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDear DNS,
ReplyDeleteTO THE LEADERSHIP
Sir, payday is usually characterized with joy and euphoria, where workers receive their wages with joy then take care of all their outstanding bills.
I write to you with a depressed soul, broken and utterly devastated mind. Need I remind you that I am a Nigerian who pride myself in the rich culture of our country and Africa at large. I won't deny that many of our people have behaved in a repressive and unprofessional manner but that doesn't reflect the through nature of an African man or a Nigerian. Like we have both the good and bad in every country of the world today, so also we have them here but I am here to represent the vast majority of the good and educated one's.
Without mincing words, our payday in this part of the world was characterized with chaos and agonies of sleepless nights where we put in efforts to produce good quality messages but got ripped off.
As DNS employee, I was made to know that 20messages (1 euro) is taken by you as processing fee and our banks who have done absolutely nothing for us are taking between 25 to 40 euros (500 to 800 quality messages). Then what do we have left? Are we working for them or for ourselves?
Majority of the people struggle to produce 2020 messages monthly just to get paid in a month and manage their lives. HOW THEN IS SURVIVAL POSSIBLE nor the MORALE to produce good and quality message comes from when we are being ROBBED by our BANKS?
We know that this is not your fault as our EMPLOYER but we are praying you grant us our request which is payment either through BITCOIN or ETHEREUM (CRYPTOCURRENCY).
The crypto is a generally acceptable way of making transaction/payment and we are all educated. This will further make your job easier and less cumbersome.
We can not be WORKING and be thinking of our BANKS that would rip us at the end of the month. This is our PRAYER to you from all of us in NIGERIA
Please do help us look into this and we assure you that you do be proud of us henceforth.
DNS (NIGERIA)
For us in Nigeria if we work a whole month for 75 euro and then bank cuts 25euro that is just too much to bear the former payment system please
ReplyDeleteCan we get payments in bitcoin instead or the former paying method, please? This new system makes the work less encouraging, as we're being ripped off by our local banks. Please consider this.
ReplyDeletePlease is there anyone that experienced the deductions with GT bank?
ReplyDeleteDo you know the exchange rate of GT bank and how much they deduct?
DeleteI am yet to get a mail that I have been paid.
ReplyDeleteCheck this link to see if you actually are supposed to get paid, if so, check your spam, nothing there, contact Peter
