No traffic? Be challenging! The platform is semi - dedicated.
You might not know this, but the platform you work on is semi-dedicated. This means that normally when a client answers to a message you wrote, you will get that client again. The faster you work, the more clients you can hold at the same time, so chatting on FB while you work, is NOT a good idea, at least not when you want to make a lot of money. When your client has to wait for too long, the message will simple go to another operator.
Even more important is the quality of your messages, the more challenging and stimulating your messages (and questions!) are, the higher the chance your client will react and that is yet another message for you.
You may not notice this when it is really very busy, because you will get a next message anyway. But 15 minutes later it can get less busy, or many more operators log in. The person who was chatting on FB (slower) and meanwhile wrote thoughtless boring messages, without questions, will have nothing to do. But his colleague who invested in good quality replies and was twice as fast, keeps on getting messages the same time....
The semi in semi-dedicated is because the system will redistribute when needed because clients go to sleep, operators log in and out and so on and depending on the situation more or less clients will be assigned to you.
